Rare Earths

Rare earths play an important and growing role in our modern society despite being a relatively unknown group of elements. Hybrid vehicles, energy efficient lighting and wind turbines are among the applications in which rare earths are critical. Rare earths belong to the lanthanide series of elements with most only discovered in the last 120 years. Rare earths are more common than gold in the earth’s crust. The “rare” title comes from the limited economic abundance and from the complexity of extraction and processing.

Projects

The diversification and strength of our key assets is one of our key value propositions as a company. Our current portfolio consists of our Flagship Browns Range Pilot Pant project, joined by our John Galt project in WA. Our Boulder Ridge Project located in the NT rounds out three different and crucial assets in our plan to develop and produce heavy rare earths.

With Dysprosium & Terbium being critical inputs across multiple applications, our high-grade orebody, experienced management team and a clear path to production places Browns Range as one of Australia’s premier rare earths projects.

With an updated DFS due in early 2024, a binding supply agreement with Iluka for 100% of planned production over the initial life of mine to feed the Eneabba Rare Earths Refinery, and the procurement of project funding with strategic partners well underway, NTU is well positioned to rapidly advance Brown’s Range into production.
